Article L7251-1 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The Assembly of Martinique regulates the affairs of the territorial collectivity of Martinique through its deliberations.

It is competent to promote regional cooperation, the economic, social, health, cultural and scientific development of Martinique and the planning of its territory, and to ensure the preservation of its identity, while respecting the integrity, autonomy and attributions of the communes.

It may undertake actions that complement those of the State, the communes and their groupings and the public establishments located in the territorial collectivity.

L’assemblée de Martinique règle par ses délibérations les affaires de la collectivité territoriale de Martinique.

Elle a compétence pour promouvoir la coopération régionale, le développement économique, social, sanitaire, culturel et scientifique de la Martinique et l’aménagement de son territoire et pour assurer la préservation de son identité, dans le respect de l’intégrité, de l’autonomie et des attributions des communes.

Elle peut engager des actions complémentaires de celles de l’Etat, des communes et de leurs groupements et des établissements publics situés dans la collectivité territoriale.
