Article L741-1 of the French Commercial code

The clerks of the commercial courts are public and ministerial officers.

They cease to hold office when they reach the age of seventy. With the authorisation of the Minister of Justice, they may continue to perform their duties until the day on which their successor takes the oath, for a period that may not exceed twelve months.

Les greffiers des tribunaux de commerce sont des officiers publics et ministériels.

Ils cessent leurs fonctions lorsqu’ils atteignent l’âge de soixante-dix ans. Sur autorisation du ministre de la justice, ils peuvent continuer d’exercer leurs fonctions jusqu’au jour où leur successeur prête serment, pour une durée qui ne peut excéder douze mois.
