As an exception to article L. 742-4, the judge responsible for freedoms and detention may also be asked to extend the period of detention beyond thirty days if the foreign national has been sentenced to deportation for acts of terrorism covered by Title II of Book IV of the Penal Code or if he or she is the subject of a deportation order issued for behaviour linked to terrorist activities that have been found to be criminal offences, provided that removal remains a reasonable prospect and that no decision to place the foreign national under house arrest would allow sufficient control over him or her.
