For the application of this Title in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, New Caledonia, French Polynesia and the Wallis and Futuna Islands:
1° A financial institution is defined in accordance with Article L. 722-2.
The financial institution thus defined may also be a financial holding company, a payment institution or a portfolio management company.
2° The word “branch” and the expression “banking service” are defined in accordance with Article L. 722-2;
3° The first paragraph of Article L. 511-1 is replaced by the following provisions:
“I.- A credit institution is a company whose main activity is the provision of banking services.A credit institution is an undertaking whose business is to receive deposits or other repayable funds from the public and to grant credit on its own behalf.
A credit institution is also an undertaking whose business consists of dealing on its own account, underwriting financial instruments or placing financial instruments with a firm commitment if the total value of the undertaking’s consolidated assets reaches or exceeds 30 billion euros or if it is part of a group whose total value of consolidated assets reaches or exceeds 30 billion euros.”
