Article L823-1 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

Subject to the exemptions provided for in Article L. 823-9, it is punishable by five years’ imprisonment and a fine of €30,000 for any person to facilitate or attempt to facilitate, by direct or indirect assistance, the unauthorised entry, movement or residence of a foreign national in France.
The provisions of this article apply even when the acts are committed by a person in the territory of another State party to the Schengen Agreement signed on 19 June 1990.

Article L823-1

Sous réserve des exemptions prévues à l’article L. 823-9, est puni de cinq ans d’emprisonnement et de 30 000 euros d’amende le fait, pour toute personne, de faciliter ou de tenter de faciliter, par aide directe ou indirecte, l’entrée, la circulation ou le séjour irréguliers d’un étranger en France.
Les dispositions du présent article sont applicables y compris lorsque les faits sont commis par une personne se trouvant sur le territoire d’un autre État partie à la convention signée à Schengen le 19 juin 1990.
