The statutory auditor is appointed for a term of six financial years. His term of office expires after the deliberation of the general meeting or competent body that rules on the accounts for the sixth financial year.
The statutory auditor appointed to replace another shall remain in office only until the expiry of the term of office of his predecessor.
A statutory auditor whose term of office has expired, who has been dismissed, removed from office, suspended, temporarily prohibited from practising, struck off, omitted or has resigned shall allow the successor statutory auditor access to all relevant information and documents relating to the person or entity whose accounts are being certified, including those relating to the most recent certification of accounts.
Where that person or entity is a public interest entity, the provisions of Article 18 of Regulation (EU) No 537/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council shall also apply.
