Article LO1112-9 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The campaign for the local referendum shall open at midnight on the second Monday preceding the poll. It shall close at midnight on the eve of the poll.

It is organised by the territorial authority that has decided to use the local referendum under the conditions defined in Chapter V of Title I of Book I of the Electoral Code, with the exception of Article L. 52-3. For the application of these provisions, the text should read: “group, party or grouping entitled to take part in the campaign” instead of : “candidate” and : “list of candidates”.

The prohibitions set out in Article L. 50-1, the third paragraph of Article L. 51 and article L. 52-1 of the Electoral Code are applicable to all propaganda relating to the referendum as soon as the deliberative assembly of the territorial authority adopts the resolution referred to in article LO 1112-3.

The provisions of the loi n° 77-808 du 19 juillet 1977 relative à la publication et à la diffusion de certains sondages d’opinion are applicable to local referendums.

Article LO1112-9

La campagne en vue du référendum local est ouverte le deuxième lundi précédant le scrutin à zéro heure. Elle est close la veille du scrutin à minuit.

Elle est organisée par la collectivité territoriale ayant décidé de recourir au référendum local dans les conditions définies au chapitre V du titre Ier du livre Ier du code électoral, à l’exception de l’article L. 52-3. Pour l’application de ces dispositions, il y a lieu de lire : ” groupe, parti ou groupement habilité à participer à la campagne ” au lieu de : ” candidat ” et de : ” liste de candidats “.

Les interdictions prévues par l’article L. 50-1, le troisième alinéa de l’article L. 51 et l’article L. 52-1 du code électoral sont applicables à toute propagande relative au référendum dès l’adoption par l’assemblée délibérante de la collectivité territoriale de la délibération visée à l’article LO 1112-3.

Les dispositions de la loi n° 77-808 du 19 juillet 1977 relative à la publication et à la diffusion de certains sondages d’opinion sont applicables aux référendums locaux.
