Article R1131-20-4 of the French Public Health Code

The doctor consulted by the relative who has received the family medical information letter referred to in the fourth paragraph of article L. 1131-1-2 will approach the prescribing doctor who sent this letter to obtain the information relating to the genetic anomaly in question.

The prescribing doctor will only transmit information relating to the genetic anomaly in question, to the exclusion of any other information covered by medical confidentiality, and in particular the identity of the person diagnosed with the genetic anomaly which may be responsible for a serious condition justifying preventive measures and care.

Le médecin consulté par la personne apparentée ayant reçu la lettre d’information médicale à caractère familial mentionnée au quatrième alinéa de l’article L. 1131-1-2 se rapproche du médecin prescripteur qui a adressé cette lettre pour obtenir l’information relative à l’anomalie génétique en cause.


Le médecin prescripteur ne transmet que l’information relative à l’anomalie génétique en cause, à l’exclusion de toute autre information couverte par le secret médical, et notamment de l’identité de la personne chez qui l’anomalie génétique pouvant être responsable d’une affection grave justifiant de mesures de prévention et de soins a été diagnostiquée.
