Article R123-221 of the French Commercial code

The identification number allocated to each legal unit is a serial number consisting of nine digits.

The identification number allocated to each establishment consists of the nine digits of the identification number of the registered legal unit carrying on business there, followed by an additional five-digit identification number specific to that establishment.

Le numéro d’identification attribué à chaque unité légale est un numéro d’ordre composé de neuf chiffres.

Le numéro d’identification attribué à chaque établissement est composé des neuf chiffres du numéro d’identification de l’unité légale inscrite qui y exerce son activité, suivis d’un numéro d’identification complémentaire de cinq chiffres propre à cet établissement.
