Article R1342-20 of the French Public Health Code

The sale or free distribution to a minor of substances or mixtures classified as category 1, 2 or 3 acute toxicants or category 1 specific target organ toxicants after single or repeated exposure, pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures, as amended, is prohibited.

Any person who sells or distributes free of charge any of the above-mentioned substances or mixtures may require customers to provide proof that they have reached the age of majority.

Sont interdites la vente ou la distribution à titre gratuit, à une personne mineure, des substances ou mélanges classés comme toxiques aigus de catégories 1,2 ou 3, ou comme toxiques spécifiques pour certains organes cibles après exposition, unique ou répétée, de catégorie 1, en application du règlement (CE) n° 1272/2008 du Parlement européen et du Conseil du 16 décembre 2008 modifié relatif à la classification, à l’étiquetage et à l’emballage des substances et des mélanges.

La personne qui vend ou distribue à titre gratuit des substances ou mélanges mentionnés ci-dessus peut exiger du client qu’il établisse la preuve de sa majorité.
