The Scientific Advisory Board is responsible for :
1° To give an opinion on the Agency’s research, expertise and study guidelines and on its scientific partnership and programming policy;
2° To assist the agency’s management in drawing up procedures for calls for projects;
3° To validate and supervise the process of evaluating the Agency’s scientific activity, and to issue recommendations to the Agency’s management on the basis of the results obtained;
4° Giving an opinion on the need to set up expert committees.
It assists the Agency in its mission to contribute to the development and implementation of national and European public health policies. It may, on its own initiative, make observations and recommendations on any scientific and technical issue falling within the Agency’s remit. These are forwarded to the Chief Executive and the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
It draws up an annual report on the scientific and technical aspects of the Agency’s activities. This report is sent to the Board of Directors and the Directorate-General for Health.
The Scientific Advisory Board is consulted on the provisions of the Agency’s internal rules that concern it.
