The Chairman of the Board of Directors is appointed for a term of four years, renewable once. This provision shall not prevent the Chairman from holding a directorship before or after his term of office. The duties of Chairman of the Board of Directors are incompatible with those of Chief Executive Officer of the Agency. The age limit for the Chairman is sixty-seven.

In the event of a seat becoming vacant as a result of the permanent incapacity of its holder or the loss by a member of the capacity in respect of which he has been appointed, a new member shall be appointed under the conditions laid down in article R. 1413-4. The duties of a member of the Board of Directors are incompatible with that of a member of the Scientific Advisory Board, a member of the Ethics Committee and a member of the Steering and Dialogue Committee.
