Article R1424-20-2 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The volunteer fire officer mentioned in 5° of article R. 1424-19 provides the management of the fire and rescue service with his knowledge and experience of voluntary service. He may be entrusted with any other mission by the departmental director of fire and rescue services. In these capacities, he/she takes part in meetings of the fire and rescue service management.

He/she holds a grade no higher than that of the deputy departmental director.

L’officier de sapeurs-pompiers volontaires mentionné au 5° de l’article R. 1424-19 apporte à la direction du service d’incendie et de secours sa connaissance et son expérience du volontariat. Il peut être chargé par le directeur départemental des services d’incendie et de secours de toute autre mission. A ces titres, il participe aux réunions de la direction du service d’incendie et de secours.

Il détient un grade au plus égal à celui du directeur départemental adjoint.
