Fire and rescue centres are created and classified by order of the prefect on the basis of the departmental risk analysis and coverage plan and operational regulations as well as the number and type of intervention departures provided according to the following criteria:
a) Fire and rescue centres simultaneously providing at least one response departure for a fire-fighting mission, two response departures for a mission of emergency first aid and care for people and another response departure ;
b) Fire and rescue centres simultaneously providing at least one response departure for a fire-fighting mission or one response departure for a mission of emergency first aid and care for people and another response departure;
c) Fire and rescue centres providing at least one response departure.
Each fire and rescue centre has, depending on the category to which it belongs, a workforce enabling it at least to ensure on-call duty and response departures under the conditions defined above. This staffing level is set in compliance with the provisions of the departmental risk analysis and coverage plan and the operational regulations.
On-call personnel are likely to leave immediately for an intervention; on-call personnel are likely to leave for an intervention within a period set by the operational regulations.
