Article R15-33-29-21 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

In order to be appointed as a judicial environmental officer, environmental inspectors must have passed a technical examination.
The procedures for organising this examination and the test programme are set by joint order of the Minister of Justice and the Minister for the Environment.
By way of derogation from the provisions of the first paragraph, a joint order of the Minister of Justice and the Minister for the Environment sets the list of agents who, having performed the duties of judicial police officer for at least three years, are exempt from the technical examination.
