Article R15-33-65 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

Where the transaction consists of the performance of unpaid work, the provisions of articles 131-23, 131-24 of the Penal Code and articles R. 623-14, R. 623-16 and R. 623-17 of the Penitentiary Code are applicable to the performance of this work and the powers conferred by these articles on the sentence enforcement judge or on the director of the penitentiary integration and probation service are exercised by the mayor.

Lorsque la transaction consiste en l’exécution d’un travail non rémunéré, les dispositions des articles 131-23, 131-24 du code pénal et des articles R. 623-14, R. 623-16 et R. 623-17 du code pénitentiaire sont applicables à l’exécution de ce travail et les attributions confiées par ces articles au juge de l’application des peines ou au directeur du service pénitentiaire d’insertion et de probation sont exercées par le maire.
