Article R2-11 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

In accordance with the provisions of Article 10-7, the first president of the court of appeal and the president of the judicial tribunal decide by order on the distribution of the service of hearings between the citizen assessors.

For each hearing, at least two substitute citizen assessors are appointed in addition to the two permanent citizen assessors and, where applicable, the additional citizen assessor(s).

The citizen assessors are informed by any means of the dates of the hearings to which they are called or may be called to sit as full, additional or substitute assessors.

Conformément aux dispositions de l’article 10-7, le premier président de la cour d’appel et le président du tribunal judiciaire décident par ordonnance de la répartition du service des audiences entre les citoyens assesseurs.


Pour chaque audience, il est désigné, outre les deux citoyens assesseurs titulaires et, le cas échéant, le ou les citoyens assesseurs supplémentaires, au moins deux citoyens assesseurs suppléants.


Les citoyens assesseurs sont informés par tout moyen des dates des audiences auxquelles ils sont appelés ou peuvent être appelés à siéger comme assesseurs titulaires, supplémentaires ou suppléants.
