Article R2 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

For the application of article 264-1, the prefect’s order apportioning the number of jurors pursuant to article 260 is issued before the end of January each year or, in Paris, before the end of March. Failing this, the apportionment resulting from the order drawn up the previous year remains valid.

After carrying out the drawing of lots provided for by Article 261, the mayor shall send an original copy of the preparatory list of the annual list of the jury of assizes to the clerk’s office of the court in which the assize court has its seat before 15 April, in accordance with the first paragraph of article 261-1.

The mayor also sends the documents provided for in article R. 2-1 to the persons drawn by lot before this date.

The commission provided for by Article 262 meets during the month of June to draw up the annual list of jurors in accordance with article 263.

Pour l’application de l’article 264-1, l’arrêté du préfet procédant à la répartition du nombre de jurés en application de l’article 260 intervient avant la fin du mois de janvier de chaque année ou, à Paris, avant la fin du mois de mars. A défaut, la répartition résultant de l’arrêté établi l’année précédente demeure valable.

Après avoir procédé aux opérations de tirage au sort prévues par l’article 261, le maire transmet avant le 15 avril au greffe de la juridiction siège de la cour d’assises un exemplaire original de la liste préparatoire de la liste annuelle du jury d’assises conformément au premier alinéa de l’article 261-1.

Le maire adresse en outre, avant cette date, aux personnes tirées au sort les documents prévus par l’article R. 2-1.

La commission prévue par l’article 262 se réunit dans le courant du mois de juin pour établir la liste annuelle des jurés conformément à l’article 263.
