Article R233-10 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

In the event of the death of the European Union citizen accompanied or joined or if the latter leaves France, the children and the family member who has custody of them retain this right of residence until these children complete their education at a French secondary school.

En cas de décès du citoyen de l’Union européenne accompagné ou rejoint ou si celui-ci quitte la France, les enfants et le membre de la famille qui en a la garde conservent ce droit de séjour jusqu’à ce que ces enfants achèvent leur scolarité dans un établissement français d’enseignement secondaire.
