For facades classified as historic monuments, included in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments or listed in the archaeological and artistic register of the Paris municipality (1st and 2nd categories), the mayor sets, in each case, the conditions for the fitting of nameplates in such a way as to cause the least possible damage to the architectural and monumental arrangements.
Old inscriptions of the names of streets and squares, whether public or private, or building numbers, engraved on stone or painted, which still remain on the buildings and are of historical interest, must not, under any circumstances, be obscured by the affixing of regulatory plaques.
