Article R310-16 of the French Commercial code

Any person engaging in sales on sale shall keep at the disposal of the agents authorised to carry out checks the documents justifying that the goods sold on sale had been offered for sale, and where the seller is neither the producer nor his agent that their purchase price had been paid, for at least one month at the date of the start of the sales period in question.

Toute personne se livrant à des ventes en soldes tient à la disposition des agents habilités à opérer des contrôles les documents justifiant que les marchandises vendues en soldes avaient été proposées à la vente, et lorsque le vendeur n’est ni le producteur ni son mandataire que leur prix d’achat avait été payé, depuis au moins un mois à la date de début de la période de soldes considérée.
