Article R413-3 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The Republican Integration Contract, together with a translation into a language that the person concerned understands, is presented to the foreign national by the French Immigration and Integration Office during a personalised interview. Following this interview, it is signed by the foreign national and, where applicable, by his or her legal representative who has been legally admitted to reside in France. It is also signed by the Prefect who granted the residence permit or by the Prefect of the place of residence for foreign nationals staying in France on a visa for more than three months.
The Republican Integration Contract signed at the end of the interview prescribes compulsory civic training and, where applicable, language training aimed at acquiring the French language, as provided for respectively in 1° and 2° of article L. 413-3. As soon as language training is prescribed, it becomes compulsory for the foreign national, subject to the provisions of the third paragraph of article R. 413-13.
The Republican Integration Contract is prepared by the Office in accordance with a standard model approved by order of the Minister responsible for reception and integration.

Article R413-3

Le contrat d’intégration républicaine, avec sa traduction dans une langue que l’intéressé comprend, est présenté par l’Office français de l’immigration et de l’intégration à l’étranger au cours d’un entretien personnalisé. A l’issue de cet entretien, il est signé par l’étranger et, le cas échéant, par son représentant légal admis régulièrement au séjour en France. Il est également signé par le préfet qui a accordé le titre de séjour ou par le préfet du lieu de résidence pour l’étranger séjournant en France sous couvert d’un visa d’une durée supérieure à trois mois.
Le contrat d’intégration républicaine signé à l’issue de l’entretien prescrit la formation civique obligatoire et, le cas échéant, la formation linguistique visant à l’acquisition de la langue française prévues respectivement aux 1° et 2° de l’article L. 413-3. Dès lors que la formation linguistique est prescrite, celle-ci devient obligatoire pour l’étranger, sous réserve des dispositions du troisième alinéa de l’article R. 413-13.
Le contrat d’intégration républicaine est préparé par l’office suivant un modèle type approuvé par arrêté du ministre chargé de l’accueil et de l’intégration.
