Article R434-15 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The mayor has two months from receipt of the application to check whether the income and housing conditions set out in 1° and 2° of article L. 434-7 have been met. He has an equal period, if the matter has been referred to him for this purpose by the Prefect or, in Paris, by the Police Prefect, to issue an opinion the respect for the essential principles governing family life in France, as provided for in 3° of the same article.

Article R434-15

Le maire dispose d’un délai de deux mois à compter de la réception du dossier pour vérifier si les conditions de ressources et de logement prévues aux 1° et 2° de l’article L. 434-7 sont remplies. Il dispose d’un délai de durée égale, s’il a été saisi à cette fin par le préfet ou, à Paris, par le préfet de police, pour émettre un avis le respect des principes essentiels qui régissent la vie familiale en France, prévu au 3° du même article.
