Article R4421-4 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

When the sites council sits in a formation known as “new tourist units”, it comprises in equal parts:

1° State representatives, including in particular the regional director of the environment, the departmental director of infrastructure and the regional tourism delegate;

2° Elected representatives of the local authorities and public establishments for inter-communal cooperation in the massif;

3° Personalities qualified in the protection of sites, the living environment and the natural sciences, including representatives of approved environmental protection associations and the regional nature park;

4° Representatives of the consular chambers and socio-professional organisations concerned.

Lorsque le conseil des sites siège en formation dite “des unités touristiques nouvelles”, il comprend à parts égales :

1° Des représentants de l’Etat, dont notamment le directeur régional de l’environnement, le directeur départemental de l’équipement et le délégué régional au tourisme ;

2° Des représentants élus des collectivités territoriales et des établissements publics de coopération intercommunale du massif ;

3° Des personnalités qualifiées en matière de protection des sites, du cadre de vie et des sciences de la nature, parmi lesquelles figurent des représentants d’associations agréées de protection de l’environnement et du parc naturel régional ;

4° Des représentants des chambres consulaires et des organisations socioprofessionnelles intéressées.
