Article R4451-8 of the French Labour Code

The exposure of young people aged at least sixteen and under eighteen to ionising radiation does not exceed:

1° For the whole body, 6 millisieverts over 12 consecutive months, assessed on the basis of the effective dose:

2° For organs or tissues, assessed on the basis of the following corresponding equivalent doses:

a) 150 millisieverts over 12 consecutive months, for the extremities and the skin. For the skin, this limit applies to the average dose over any surface area of 1 cm2, regardless of the surface area exposed;

b) 15 millisieverts over 12 consecutive months for the lens of the eye.

L’exposition des jeunes âgés de seize ans au moins et de moins de dix-huit ans aux rayonnements ionisants ne dépasse pas :


1° Pour l’organisme entier, 6 millisieverts sur 12 mois consécutifs, évaluée à partir de la dose efficace :


2° Pour les organes ou les tissus, évalués à partir des doses équivalentes correspondantes, suivantes :


a) 150 millisieverts sur 12 mois consécutifs, pour les extrémités et la peau. Pour la peau, cette limite s’applique à la dose moyenne sur toute surface de 1 cm2, quelle que soit la surface exposée ;


b) 15 millisieverts sur 12 mois consécutifs, pour le cristallin.
