Article R4461-42 of the French Labour Code

I. – The practice of apnea is authorised for workers holding a certificate of aptitude mention B “physical or sporting activities”. The conditions for this activity are those set out in Chapter II of Title II of Book III of the French Sports Code.

II – For workers holding a certificate bearing another of the B endorsements referred to in II of article R. 4461-28, freediving is authorised provided that the relative pressure of exposure does not exceed 1,000 hectopascals.

Joint decrees issued by the ministers responsible for labour and, each as far as they are concerned, by the ministers concerned, specify the activities open to this practice and the conditions and procedures for carrying out freediving operations.

I. ― La pratique de l’apnée est autorisée pour les travailleurs disposant d’un certificat d’aptitude mention B ” activités physiques ou sportives ”. Les conditions d’exercice de cette pratique sont celles déterminées au chapitre II du titre II du livre III du code du sport.

II. ― Pour les travailleurs titulaires d’un certificat comportant une autre des mentions B visées au II de l’article R. 4461-28, la pratique de l’apnée est autorisée sous réserve que la pression relative d’exposition ne soit pas supérieure à 1 000 hectopascals.

Des arrêtés conjoints des ministres chargés du travail, et, chacun en ce qui le concerne, des ministres intéressés précisent les activités ouvertes à cette pratique et les conditions et modalités d’exercice des interventions en apnée.
