Article R4534-16 of the French Labour Code

Examinations of equipment, machinery, installations or protective devices are repeated as often as necessary, in particular:

1° After each dismantling or modification, or when one of their parts has been replaced;

2° Following any malfunction which may or may not have led to an accident;

3° After any abnormal stress or incident that may have caused disorder in the installations.

Les examens du matériel, des engins, des installations ou des dispositifs de protection sont renouvelés aussi souvent que nécessaire, notamment :

1° Après chaque démontage ou modification, ou lorsque l’une de leurs parties a été remplacée ;

2° A la suite de toute défaillance ayant entraîné ou non un accident ;

3° Après tout effort anormal ou incident ayant pu provoquer un désordre dans les installations.
