When manual handling is unavoidable and the mechanical aids provided for in 2° of Article R. 4541-5 cannot be used, a worker may only be allowed to carry loads in excess of 55 kilograms on a regular basis if he has been recognised as fit to do so by the occupational physician, provided that these loads do not exceed 105 kilograms.
However, women are not permitted to carry loads in excess of 25 kilograms or to transport loads with a wheelbarrow in excess of 40 kilograms, wheelbarrow included.
