Article R4544-2 of the French Labour Code

For the application of the provisions of this chapter, operations on electrical installations are understood to mean :

1° In the high- and low-voltage fields, work away from voltage, work under voltage, switching operations, tests, measurements and checks ;

2° In the low voltage area, interventions.

Operations carried out in the vicinity of electrical installations are understood to mean electrical and non-electrical operations carried out in a defined area around live bare parts, the dimensions of which vary according to the voltage range. These dimensions are specified in an order issued by the ministers responsible for labour and agriculture.

Article R4544-2

Pour l’application des dispositions du présent chapitre, on entend par opérations sur les installations électriques :

1° Dans les domaines haute et basse tension, les travaux hors tension, les travaux sous tension, les manœuvres, les essais, les mesurages et les vérifications ;

2° Dans le domaine basse tension, les interventions.

On entend par opérations effectuées dans le voisinage d’installations électriques les opérations d’ordre électrique et non électrique effectuées dans une zone définie autour de pièces nues sous tension, dont les dimensions varient en fonction du domaine de tension. Un arrêté des ministres chargés du travail et de l’agriculture précise ces dimensions.
