Article R531-33 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

When, following a decision to close the file, the interested party intends to request that the file be reopened or submits a new application, this must be preceded by a new registration with the competent prefect. The Prefect informs the applicant of the procedure applicable to him/her, pursuant to article L. 531-40. The Prefect will also inform the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons of the applicant’s application.

Lorsqu’à la suite d’une décision de clôture, la personne intéressée entend solliciter la réouverture de son dossier ou présente une nouvelle demande, cette démarche doit être précédée d’un nouvel enregistrement auprès du préfet compétent. Ce dernier informe le demandeur de la procédure qui lui est applicable, en application de l’article L. 531-40. Il informe également l’Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides de la demande de l’intéressé.
