Article R561-3 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

As soon as the application has been registered by the diplomatic or consular authority, the minister responsible for asylum will ask the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons to certify the family situation of the refugee or beneficiary of subsidiary protection, as well as their civil status.
The Office will send certification of the family situation and civil status as soon as possible to the minister responsible for asylum, who will inform the diplomatic or consular authority.

Dès l’enregistrement de la demande par l’autorité diplomatique ou consulaire, le ministre chargé de l’asile demande à l’Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides la certification de la situation de famille du réfugié ou du bénéficiaire de la protection subsidiaire ainsi que de son état civil.
L’office transmet la certification de la situation de famille et de l’état civil dans les meilleurs délais au ministre chargé de l’asile qui en informe l’autorité diplomatique ou consulaire.
