The persons making up the crews of the vehicles specially adapted for land medical transport mentioned in article R. 6312-8 belong to the following categories:
1° Holders of the ambulance driver’s State diploma instituted by the Minister for Health ;
2° Sapeurs-pompiers (fire fighters) who have completed the training provided for by decrees of the Conseil d’Etat (Council of State) to provide emergency assistance to the people mentioned in article L. 1424-2 of the Code général des collectivités territoriales (General Code of Territorial Authorities), or the Paris fire fighters or the Marseille marine fire fighters;
3° Persons :
-either hold the “level 1 civic prevention and first aid” teaching unit provided for by the decree mentioned in article 1 of decree no. 91-834 of 30 August 1991 as amended relating to first aid training, or the health auxiliary card,
-or belong to one of the professions regulated in Books I and III of Part IV;
4° Ambulance drivers.
Applicants must hold a category B driving licence and hold a certificate issued by the Prefect, following a medical examination carried out under the conditions defined in articles R. 221-10 and R. 221-11 of the Highway Code. They must not be among the drivers to whom the provisions of articles R. 413-5 and R. 413-6 of the same code apply.
