Article R7123-31 of the French Labour Code

The formal notice referred to in article R. 7123-30 may be issued either by an employee or by a social security body or social institution, provided that their claims are certain, liquid and due. This formal notice is sent by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt.
The guarantor is informed of the formal notice sent by the creditor by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt or by letter delivered against receipt.

La mise en demeure mentionnée à l’article R. 7123-30 peut émaner soit d’un salarié, soit d’un organisme de sécurité sociale ou d’une institution sociale, dès lors que leurs créances sont certaines, liquides et exigibles. Cette mise en demeure est faite par lettre recommandée avec avis de réception.
Le garant est informé de l’envoi de la mise en demeure par le créancier par lettre recommandée avec avis de réception ou par lettre remise contre récépissé.
