Article 1175 of the French Code of civil procedure

Where appropriate, the court shall rule, in the same form, on the change of the adopted person’s forenames and, in the case of simple adoption, on the adopted person’s name.

S’il y a lieu, le tribunal se prononce, en la même forme, sur la modification des prénoms de l’adopté et, en cas d’adoption simple, sur le nom de celui-ci.
