Article 198 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The parties and their lawyers are allowed until the day of the hearing to produce briefs which they communicate to the public prosecutor and the other parties.

These briefs are filed at the registry of the investigating chamber and stamped by the registrar with an indication of the day and time of filing or are sent to the registrar, the public prosecutor and the other parties by fax or by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, which must reach the addressees before the day of the hearing.

Les parties et leurs avocats sont admis jusqu’au jour de l’audience à produire des mémoires qu’ils communiquent au ministère public et aux autres parties.

Ces mémoires sont déposés au greffe de la chambre de l’instruction et visés par le greffier avec l’indication du jour et de l’heure du dépôt ou sont adressés au greffier, au ministère public et aux autres parties par télécopie ou par lettre recommandée avec demande d’avis de réception, qui doit parvenir aux destinataires avant le jour de l’audience.
