Any association that has been duly registered for at least five years and whose articles of association propose to assist victims of offences may exercise the rights granted to civil parties in respect of offences falling within the scope of Article 706-16 where the public prosecution has been initiated by the public prosecutor or the injured party.
Any duly registered association whose statutory purpose is to defend the victims of an offence falling within the scope of application of the same article 706-16 and which brings together several of these victims may, if it has been approved for this purpose, exercise the rights granted to a civil party with regard to this offence when the public prosecution has been initiated by the public prosecutor or the injured party. The conditions under which the associations mentioned in this paragraph may be approved, after consultation with the Public Prosecutor, taking into account their representativeness, are set by decree.
Any foundation recognised as being in the public interest may exercise the rights granted to a civil party under the same conditions and subject to the same reservations as the association mentioned in this article.
