Article 223 of the French Code of civil procedure

It is incumbent on the party requesting an enquiry to state the surnames, first names and residences of the persons whose evidence it seeks.

The same burden is incumbent on the opposing parties requesting the examination of witnesses on the facts of which the party claims to provide evidence.

The decision ordering the enquiry shall state the surnames, first names and residences of the persons to be heard.

Il incombe à la partie qui demande une enquête d’indiquer les nom, prénoms et demeure des personnes dont elle sollicite l’audition.

La même charge incombe aux adversaires qui demandent l’audition de témoins sur les faits dont la partie prétend rapporter la preuve.

La décision qui prescrit l’enquête énonce les nom, prénoms et demeure des personnes à entendre.
