Article 261 of the French Customs Code

Skippers who are forced to abandon ship due to sea conditions, enemy pursuit or other fortuitous events are required :

a) as soon as they enter the maritime zone within the customs radius, to comply with the obligations set out in article 69 above ;

b) within twenty-four hours of their arrival in port, to justify, by means of a report, the reasons for their release and to comply with the requirements of article 72 above.

Les capitaines qui sont forcés de relâcher par fortune de mer, poursuite d’ennemis ou autres cas fortuits sont tenus :

a) dès leur entrée dans la zone maritime du rayon des douanes, de se conformer aux obligations prévues par l’article 69 ci-dessus ;

b) dans les vingt-quatre heures de leur arrivée au port, de justifier, par un rapport, des causes de la relâche et de se conformer aux prescriptions de l’article 72 ci-dessus.
