Article 61-4 of the French Civil Code

A mention of decisions to change first names and surnames is made in the margin of the civil status records of the person concerned and, where applicable, those of their spouse, partner linked by a civil solidarity pact and children.

Similarly, decisions to change first names and surnames duly acquired abroad are entered in the margin of civil status records on the instructions of the public prosecutor.

The provisions of articles 100 and 101 are applicable to first name and surname changes.

Article 61-4

Mention des décisions de changement de prénoms et de nom est portée en marge des actes de l’état civil de l’intéressé et, le cas échéant, de ceux de son conjoint, de son partenaire lié par un pacte civil de solidarité et de ses enfants.

De même, les décisions de changement de prénoms et de nom régulièrement acquises à l’étranger sont portées en marge des actes de l’état civil sur instructions du procureur de la République.

Les dispositions des articles 100 et 101 sont applicables aux modifications de prénoms et de nom.
