The conditional release decision lays down the terms and conditions under which freedom is granted and maintained, as well as the nature and duration of the assistance and supervision measures. If it is made by the sentence enforcement court, the court may provide that the release will take place on the day set by the sentence enforcement judge between two specified dates.
This duration may not be less than the duration of the part of the sentence not served at the time of release if it is a temporary sentence; it may exceed it for a maximum period of one year. The total duration of assistance and supervision measures may not, however, exceed ten years.
Where the sentence being served is a life sentence, the duration of the assistance and supervision measures is set for a period of not less than five years and not more than ten years.
During the entire period of conditional release, the provisions of the decision may be modified pursuant to article 712-8.
