Article 803-2 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

Any person who is brought before the investigating judge after being held in police custody or detained at the request of the public prosecutor or the sentence enforcement judge must appear the same day before this magistrate or, if an investigation is opened, before the investigating judge hearing the case. The same applies if the person is brought before the investigating judge following police custody in the course of a rogatory commission, or if the person is brought before a magistrate in execution of a warrant to bring or arrest.
