Article 813-9 of the French Civil Code

The judgment appointing the estate agent sets the duration of his assignment and his remuneration. At the request of one of the persons mentioned in the second paragraph of Article 813-1 or Article 814-1, it may extend it for a period it determines.

The mission ceases ipso jure by the effect of an indivision agreement between the heirs or by the signing of the deed of partition. It also ceases when the judge finds that the mission entrusted to the mandatary of the succession has been fully carried out.

Le jugement désignant le mandataire successoral fixe la durée de sa mission ainsi que sa rémunération. A la demande de l’une des personnes mentionnées au deuxième alinéa de l’article 813-1 ou à l’article 814-1, il peut la proroger pour une durée qu’il détermine.

La mission cesse de plein droit par l’effet d’une convention d’indivision entre les héritiers ou par la signature de l’acte de partage. Elle cesse également lorsque le juge constate l’exécution complète de la mission confiée au mandataire successoral.
