MOTORBIKE ACROBATICS EVENTS
(art. A331-22 and A331-23)
Definition
Events featuring acrobatics on motorbikes.
Rules relating to the circuit or course
The length and nature of the track are free. The minimum width of the track is 4 metres.
Rules governing the equipment used
Solo motorbikes and quads:
– accessories likely to present a particular danger to the rider must be protected or dismantled;
– the maximum noise limit of 100 dB (A) must not be exceeded.
Rules relating to competitors or participants
Medical fitness:
– participants must present a medical certificate stating that they are not contraindicated in motor sports;
Driving fitness:
– participants must present the driving licence required to drive the machine being used, as they cannot benefit from the exemption provided for in article R. 221-16 of the Highway Code;
Personal safety equipment:
– participants must be equipped with an approved helmet, gloves, high boots covering the malleolus, a jacket made of a resistant and fireproof material with reinforcements and protection, elbow pads, knee pads, trousers made of at least strong fabric and covering the whole leg (leather or equivalent recommended). Back protectors are recommended.
Rules relating to supervision
As no specific training has been set up for this type of event, no particular qualifications are required.
At least one race director and a sufficient number of marshals must be present at the event.
Medical:
– A team of first-aiders must be present on the track. Access to the event site by the emergency services (ambulances, fire brigade and doctors) must be guaranteed at all times during the event.
Provisions for the protection of the public
The public will be protected by:
– a row of barriers 10 metres from the track, or
– a double barrier system, the first row of which will be at the edge of the track and will be reinforced by a perpendicular barrier every four barriers; in this case, the public will be positioned behind the second row of barriers located 2.5 metres from the first, or
– the use of plastic motorway separators in the first row of protection, each containing 100 litres of water. A barrier located 2 metres from the separators must be put in place and the public must stand behind it.
In all cases, the barriers must be joined together.
Sufficient numbers of fire extinguishers appropriate to the risks must also be provided in suitable locations.
Miscellaneous provisions
These events are subject to all the provisions, particularly with regard to insurance and the filing of applications, set out in articles R. 331-18 to R. 331-44 of the French Sports Code.
