A Steering Committee reports to the President of the institution. It issues opinions on the cultural orientations of the institution and on all of its activities. It evaluates the fulfilment of its various missions.
It is the scientific body, provided for by article 14 of decree no. 2002-628 of 25 April 2002 taken for the application of law no. 2002-5 of 4 January 2002 relating to the Museums of France, competent in matters of acquisition and restoration of goods intended for the national collections.
The Steering Committee comprises a maximum of twelve members, chosen for their expertise in the areas covered by the institution’s various activities.
The Director General has access to meetings of the Steering Committee. He may request that the Committee meet to examine the issues referred to it.
The Chairman and the other members of the Steering Committee are appointed by the Minister for Sport for a renewable term of three years.
The Committee draws up its own rules of procedure.
