The gender and anti-discrimination referent and the safety and security referent are appointed jointly by the prefect and the chairman of the fire and rescue service’s board of directors, for a term set by the latter.
When the term of office comes to an early end, the specialised formation of the territorial social committee is informed.
They are chosen, after a call for candidates, from among professional firefighters as well as other public employees of the fire and rescue service. The proportion of working time devoted to these duties is specified in the designation order as well as in the mission letters specifying their missions, positioning and resources.
Their designation as well as the necessary information enabling contact to be made with these referents are made known, by any means, to the agents and volunteer firefighters.
The fire and rescue service ensures that they have access to training appropriate to their missions and profile.
These referents report on their missions to the specialised formation of the territorial social committee and are involved in its work.
