Article D2411-8 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The resignations of the members of the syndicate commission shall be addressed to the president, who shall inform the mayor and the prefect or sub-prefect.

The resignation of the president shall be addressed to the mayor, who shall inform the prefect or sub-prefect.

Additional elections shall be held when more than one third of the members of the commission have ceased to hold office for whatever reason.
