Article D5424-22 of the French Labour Code

Except in the case of serious misconduct on the part of the person concerned or in the event of work being stopped by the project manager on public works sites, the company may not dismiss an employee during the period of inactivity of the site on which the employee is employed.
However, these provisions do not affect the effects resulting from the expiry of the notice period during the period of inactivity when the notice was given before the start of this period.

L’entreprise ne peut, sauf en cas de faute grave de l’intéressé ou en cas d’arrêt des travaux par le maître d’œuvre dans les chantiers de travaux publics, licencier un salarié au cours de la période d’inactivité du chantier sur lequel celui-ci est employé.
Toutefois, ces dispositions ne portent pas atteinte aux effets découlant de l’expiration du préavis au cours de la période d’inactivité lorsque le préavis a été donné avant le début de cette période.
