Article L131-20 of the French Monetary and Financial Code

Endorsement transfers all rights arising from the cheque, in particular ownership of the funds.

If the endorsement is blank, the bearer may:

1. fill in the blank, either with his or her name or with the name of another person ;

2. Endorse the cheque again in blank, or to another person;

3. give the cheque to a third party without filling in the blank or endorsing it.

Si l’endossement est en blanc, le porteur peut :

1. Remplir le blanc, soit de son nom, soit du nom d’une autre personne ;

2. Endosser le chèque de nouveau en blanc, ou à une autre personne ;

3. Remettre le chèque à un tiers, sans remplir le blanc et sans l’endosser.
