Article L133-12 of the French Tourism Code

The designation referred to in article L. 133-11 is granted, at the request of the municipalities concerned, by decision of the competent administrative authority taken for a period of five years.

Article L133-12

La dénomination mentionnée à l’article L. 133-11 est accordée, à la demande des communes intéressées, par décision de l’autorité administrative compétente prise pour une durée de cinq ans.
