TITLE III: LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND THEIR GROUPINGS.

As part of its planning powers, the region defines the medium-term objectives for regional tourism development. The Regional Council is responsible for collecting, processing and disseminating data relating to tourism in the region. It coordinates public and private initiatives in the region in the fields of tourism development, promotion and information.

A regional tourism committee is set up in each region. The Regional Council determines the status, organisational principles and composition of the Regional Tourism Committee. Promotional activities on foreign markets are coordinated by the regional tourism committee and by the departmental tourism committee referred to in article L. 132-2.

Regional tourism committees can join forces to undertake tourism initiatives of inter-regional, national or international interest.

At the request of the Regional Council, the Regional Tourism Committee draws up the Regional Tourism and Leisure Development Plan, which is then submitted to the Regional Council for approval, after consultation with the Regional Economic and Social Committee and the Departmental Tourism Committees and similar bodies.

The regional council entrusts all or part of the implementation of the region’s tourism policy to the regional tourism committee, particularly in the areas of studies, planning, development and equipment, aid for accommodation, technical assistance for marketing and vocational training. The regional tourism committee is responsible for monitoring these initiatives. The regional tourism committee promotes tourism in the region in France and abroad.

The resources of the regional tourism committee may include in particular: 1° Subsidies and contributions of all kinds from the State, regions, departments, municipalities and their groupings; 2° Contributions from all other interested bodies and private individuals; 3° Fees for services rendered; 4° donations and legacies.

Each year, the Regional Tourism Committee submits its financial report to the plenary session of the Regional Council.
